The Brit Lions, currently in 1st place, went home with a hard fought 22-5 win over Chuckanut Bay. It was a very intense game that saw big commitment and lots of physicality from both sides. The first half saw both times battle for territorial advantage. The only scoring was on a penalty goal that gave the Brits a 3-0 lead going into the half. The home side came out with confidence in the 2nd half knowing that they had to eliminate their mistakes and cut down on the penalties. Chuckanut also needed to take care of the ball in contact which was a problem in the first half. Forward play was a strength for the Geoducks with their set pieces providing good ball for the Geoduck backs. The visitors defense was outstanding and withstood everything the home team could throw at them. Chuckanut's inability to penetrate the Brits half of the field made for a large territorial advantage for the opposition and in the end they ran in three more trys. Chuckanut managed to score just at he end of the match when Nate Twinning scored a hard earned try in the corner.
Man of the Match awards were given to Cameron Hebert and Joel Weisser for the 2nds, Eric Goheen and Nate Twinning for the 1st Division.
Chuckanut has a bye next weekend but will be back in action on Saturday November 17 when they host the Surrey Beavers RFC.
Training will resume at WCC on Tuesday 11/07 from 7:00-8:30.
