32nd Annual Can-Am Summer 7's Results

The Bellingham Rugby and Polo Fields played host to another great day of the seven a side version of rugby football. Twenty-four teams from both sides of the border played a total of 45 games on what was the hottest day of the summer. When it was all over the defending Champions Old Puget Sound Beach from Seattle, won their second consecutive Can Am title with a convincing win over the Bayside Sharks from White Rock BC. The final failed to live up to its promise as the Sharks got themselves into trouble early in the second half with two yellow cards and were forced to play with five men. OPSB took full advantage and ran away with a 24-5 win. OPSB reached the finals with wins over the Pacific Rovers 19-5, 57-0 over Ellensburg Bulls, 56-14 over Missoula Maggots RFC and a semi final win over the host Chuckanut Bay. Bayside had wins over Chuckanut Bay 26-12, 59-0 over Del Rey, 68-5 over the Meralomas and a 28-26 semi final victory over the Pacific Rovers. Nathan Allen from OPSB was selected as the tournament MVP.

The B Division final was an exciting game that went down to the wire with Vancouver Wizards coming out on top of the Seattle Horseman 35-24. Western Washington University took third. The U19 championship game saw the Bayside Young Sharks down the Chuckanut Bay Steamers 24-14. The Del Reyitos from Kent, Washington, took third.
